Steve Fonyo was born in Montreal Canada and lost his left leg to cancer when he was 12. He completed the cross Canada run that was started by Terry Fox when he was forced to abandon the Marathon of Hope. Steve later appeared in Red Deer as a Guest Speaker at a fund raiser dinner. When I met with him, he was a terrific person and quite complimentary about this drawing, but still seemed overwhelmed by his fame at the time.
